1 Acceptance And Scope
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of SignDeaf, including our public website, sign dictionary, membership areas, educational tools, account features, and related pages, content, and services that link to these terms.
By accessing or using SignDeaf, creating an account, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms. If you use SignDeaf on behalf of an organization, school, or business, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy and our Legal Page. Where a separate product page, checkout page, campaign, promotion, or feature-specific rule applies, that additional rule also forms part of the agreement for that feature.
2 Eligibility And Accounts
You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, or if you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must use the service with permission and involvement from a parent or legal guardian where the law requires that.
You agree to provide accurate, current information for your account and purchases, to keep your login credentials confidential, and not to allow another person to use your account in a way that circumvents plan limits, payment obligations, or access rules.
You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you believe your account has been compromised, you should contact us promptly through https://www.signdeaf.com/contact/.
3 Free And Paid Services
SignDeaf may offer both free and paid features. Free features may be changed, limited, or withdrawn at any time. Paid memberships may include recurring access, premium learning tools, or other benefits described at checkout or on the relevant product page.
We try to describe plans and features clearly, but the service evolves. We may improve, modify, replace, or discontinue features, content, or layouts. If a paid consumer service is materially changed in a way that applicable law regulates, we will handle that change subject to those legal requirements.
4 Billing, Renewals, Cancellation
If you purchase a paid membership, you authorize the payment provider used at checkout, such as Stripe or PayPal, to charge the payment method you select for the price, taxes, and billing interval shown at checkout.
If a membership renews automatically, it will keep renewing at the stated interval until you cancel it, unless the specific offer states otherwise. Cancellation stops future renewal charges from the next billing cycle onward, but does not normally reverse charges already validly incurred for the current billing period.
You are responsible for keeping billing details accurate and current. We may suspend or downgrade paid access if payment fails, a subscription expires, or a transaction is reversed, disputed, or blocked. Legitimate chargeback or statutory consumer rights are not waived by this clause.
5 Consumer Rights And Refunds
Unless a specific offer says otherwise, fees paid for membership periods that have already started are generally non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law, promised in a specific offer, or granted by us in our discretion.
If mandatory withdrawal or cooling-off rights apply to your purchase under applicable law, those rights apply according to that law. Where the law permits a trader to begin supplying a digital service during a withdrawal period based on your express consent and acknowledgment, any valid consent or acknowledgment collected during checkout will apply to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms is meant to exclude statutory remedies for consumers relating to non-conformity, defective digital services, misleading statements, or other non-waivable rights.
6 Acceptable Use
You must not use SignDeaf in a way that is unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or harmful to the service, its users, its creators, or third-party rights holders. In particular, you must not:
- share accounts, credentials, or paid access in a way that bypasses plan limits or payment requirements;
- scrape, crawl, harvest, mirror, benchmark, bulk download, or systematically extract content, metadata, or structure from the service;
- use SignDeaf content, layout, or data to train, fine-tune, ground, benchmark, evaluate, or populate AI models, embeddings, retrieval systems, or datasets without express written permission;
- remove attribution, copyright notices, trademarks, or source references;
- bypass or interfere with security, membership controls, rate limits, anti-bot protections, or technical restrictions;
- use the service to harass, impersonate, defame, discriminate against, or endanger other people;
- upload, submit, or transmit malicious code, spam, or material that infringes another person's rights;
- use SignDeaf for emergency reliance, regulated professional interpretation, or other high-stakes settings where independent qualified support is required.
7 Intellectual Property
Except where a third-party source is identified, the SignDeaf service, including its original text, educational explanations, editorial selections, metadata curation, taxonomy design, page structures, branding, interface wording, and other original materials, is owned by SignDeaf or used under lawful authority and is protected by applicable intellectual property and unfair competition law.
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SignDeaf for your own lawful personal, non-commercial educational use in the ordinary way the service is intended to be used.
That license does not allow resale, white-labeling, sublicensing, public redistribution, institutional duplication, commercial syndication, dataset creation, AI training, derivative clone products, or any other use beyond the narrow permission expressly granted here.
8 Feedback And User Inputs
If you send feedback, corrections, suggestions, bug reports, support requests, or feature ideas to SignDeaf, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that feedback for operating, improving, and protecting the service. This does not transfer ownership of your personal data, and our handling of personal data remains governed by the Privacy Policy.
If you submit material that you do not own or do not have the right to submit, you are responsible for that submission. We may remove or refuse material where we reasonably believe it is unlawful, infringing, abusive, or inconsistent with these Terms.
9 Third-Party Services
SignDeaf may rely on or link to third-party services, including payment providers, external sign video sources, community platforms, social channels, and hosting or infrastructure providers. Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy notices.
When your browser loads video or other resources directly from a third-party source, that provider may receive standard technical request information as part of the delivery process. We do not control the ongoing terms, uptime, or policies of those third-party services.
10 Educational Use And AI
SignDeaf is an educational and informational service. It is not legal advice, medical advice, safeguarding advice, accredited professional training, or a substitute for a qualified interpreter or other regulated professional in a high-stakes context.
Some educational materials may be assisted by automated systems, including AI tools. Sign language can vary by region, community, context, and signer, so examples or explanations may not be universally applicable. You should use judgment and, where needed, verify important matters with qualified human sources.
11 Availability And Suspension
We may update, maintain, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We may also suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe there is fraud, abuse, scraping, payment misuse, infringement, security risk, unlawful conduct, or a violation of these Terms.
Where reasonably possible, we may investigate misuse, preserve relevant records to the extent permitted by law, block traffic, revoke access, or take other protective action. We may also cooperate with rights holders, service providers, payment processors, platforms, and authorities where that is reasonably necessary.
12 Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and subject to non-waivable rights, the service is provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, universal compatibility, complete accuracy, error-free content, or fitness for every possible learning goal or professional use.
This section does not exclude warranties or statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, especially in consumer contracts.
13 Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to the carve-outs below, SignDeaf will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or loss-of-profit damages arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the service.
If liability is imposed despite the exclusions above, our aggregate liability for claims arising out of a paid service will, to the fullest extent permitted by law, not exceed the amount you paid to SignDeaf for the specific paid service directly giving rise to the claim during the twelve months before the event complained of.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer remedies, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that applicable law treats as non-waivable.
14 Indemnity
If you use SignDeaf in the course of business, or if you are not acting as a consumer, you agree, to the fullest extent permitted by law, to indemnify and hold SignDeaf harmless against claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful conduct, infringement, misuse of the service, or breach of these Terms.
If you are a consumer, this section applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory law and does not require you to indemnify us for losses you did not cause unlawfully or wrongfully.
15 Law And Disputes
These Terms and any non-contractual obligations related to them are governed by the law of Poland, except to the extent mandatory consumer protection rules require otherwise.
If you are not a consumer, the competent courts in Poland shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or connected with these Terms, unless mandatory law requires a different forum.
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits any court, complaint, supervisory, or statutory remedy available to you under applicable law.
16 Changes And Contact
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the service, the law, payments, security, or our operating model. Changes will apply prospectively. If a change materially affects ongoing paid consumer arrangements and the law requires a particular notice or remedy, we will follow that law.
If you do not agree with an updated version, you should stop using the service and, where relevant, cancel any recurring membership before the next renewal. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms for future use to the extent permitted by law.
